Sergeant Jason Stout is a 25-year-veteran of the Mesa Police Department. He has a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership. For nearly half of his career he has worked in specialty assignments, to include: Narcotics, Traffic, Gangs, and Organized Crime. He is currently assigned to the Special Investigation Squad within Organized Crime. He has been in a supervisory role since 2006.
During his tenure as a supervisor over these squads, Sergeant Stout wrote a house bill, which was eventually signed into law, and has been instrumental in various departmental policy changes related to his specialized areas. He has supervised and/or conducted hundreds of high-profile investigations that involved: surveillance, evidence collection, undercover operations, intelligence gathering, search warrant executions, interviews, victim management, and case disposition.
His current assignment includes investigating Illicit Massage Businesses. Sergeant Stout actively works both short-term and long-term investigations relating to IMB’s and oversees the deployment of many investigative tactics and strategies to combat these criminal enterprises.
From the onset of being assigned lead over these investigations, Sergeant Stout has helped develop and employ a best practice(s) approach to tackling this problem that once plagued his city of employment.
A part of his current assignment involves disrupting or dismantling illicit massage businesses, as a whole, and ensuring exploited individuals have resources and options available to them, once contacted.
